Types of Adult Toys
Although it's impossible to cover the full spectrum of categories in one article, we've included a list of a few types of
sex toys
to help you get started:
Traditional Vibrator
Your standard, "no frills" vibrators are usually made from a hard plastic or soft jelly material. These battery powered vibrators are designed to be rubbed against the clitoris or inserted into the vagina in order to provide extra stimulation.
Wand Vibrator
If you're not sure how to use adult toys you can't go wrong with a vibrator like the best selling Hitachi Magic Wand. Although its design isn't as sleek and aesthetically appealing as some of today's products, this powerful tool has been helping women learn
how to achieve orgasm
for decades! It has a soft, round head that is used to massage the clitoris and the areas around it. Bottom line- This thing works.
G spot Vibrator
This type of toy has a curved tip that points upward so that when you insert the vibrator into your vagina, your G-spot will get the extra tender loving care that it needs in order to help you get off.
Rabbit Vibrator
These devices have become increasingly popular in recent years due to their dual action capabilities. A rabbit vibrator has a curved shaft (which will often twist and rotate) designed to provide G-spot thrills. This type of vibrator also features multiple speeds and has a clitoris stimulating extension that branches off from the unit. The extension usually resembles a rabbit in its appearance and features "rabbit ears" that fit snugly around your clit.
Bullet or Egg Vibrator
These remote controlled vibrators are great for advanced users as well as beginners who want to learn how to use adult toys in a delicate, less aggressive manner. You can insert the vibrating egg mechanism into your vagina, or use it externally to rub against your clitoris.
Dildo
For maximum pleasure, some women enjoy using a dildo for vaginal penetration in conjunction with a vibrator on the clitoris. Dildos (or dongs) are available in traditional styles, however, many women prefer to use a dildo made from a "virtual skin" material because it replicates the feel and appearance of human skin.
Known for their slick appeal, glass dildos have also grown in popularity in recent years. Don't worry, the good ones are very durable and can last a lifetime!
Anal or Butt Plug
These devices have two principle uses:
1) To dilate the anus in preparation for anal intercourse.
2) To induce anal stimulation and pleasure. Remember: When you insert a butt plug into your (or your partner's) anus always use plenty of lubrication and do it slowly.

There aren't any strict rules about how to use adult toys- just some simple rules of thumb:
- If the vibrations from your vibrator feel too intense, try moving the device to the side as opposed to keeping it directly on your clitoris.
- Most women get the best results by moving their vibrator back and forth in circles while applying light pressure.
- You may be able to have multiple orgasms with your vibrator. The secret is to back off the pressure, keep the vibrator moving, and avoiding direct contact with your clit until your sexual arousal builds up again.
- Using a good lubricant will enhance sexual sensations, creating a far more pleasurable experience.
Generally, just remember to keep your toy
clean
, and if it's not waterproof- don't put it in water! Beyond that- do what feels good.
Last But Not Least Adult toys aren't just for mastering self orgasm techniques and vaginal or anal play with a partner. You can also use sex toys to induce a
breast orgasm
, or even to host an incredible
bachelorette party
. Cheers!
